BANGKOK, 22 September 2015 – The Government Lottery Office (GLO) Chief is confident that the new lottery reserve system will operate smoothly.
GLO Chief Major General Apirat Kongsompong said the IT system used by Krung Thai Bank (KTB) is stable and is unlikely to experience system failure. He ensured the public that there will not be any issue booking tickets for the next cycle. There are 62,586 users registered as of September 15, of which 10,000 are new ticket vendors.
He pointed out that 20% of all users have registered online, while the remaining 80% registered at KTB branches. Chief Apirat expects at most 13 million books of tickets will be reserved in the next lottery cycle. About 83 million books will be available in the next cycle, a significant increase from the previous 74 million books.
Major General Apirat warned vendors that selling overpriced state lottery tickets is a crime and is subject to investigation by the Revenue Department.
