BANGKOK, 29 March 2012 – The government has unveiled its natural disaster insurance policy, which is aimed at boosting confidence among the general public and investors.
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, on Wednesday, chaired the official launch of the natural disaster insurance policy, with a broad coverage that ranges from flood to earthquake and storm.
The PM said that the new type of insurance policy is intended to offer protection to the public at a reasonable cost, while boosting confidence among the people of Thailand after last year’s severe flooding.
The Premier insisted that her government is determined to efficiently prevent future disasters, the move that is crucial in restoring confidence among investors.
At the launch, the PM has presented the natural disaster insurance polices to representatives from the housing estates, the SME and the industrial sector.
The newly-launched insurance product is the collaboration between the government and 54 insurance companies.
