BANGKOK, 31 July 2015 – The Minister of Commerce will lead a team of Thai business operators to Pakistan next month to boost trade with the South Asian country.

According to Deputy Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn, Gen Chatchai Sarikalya is scheduled to attend the third meeting of Thailand-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee during August 12 and 13 and has also planned to arrange a get-together between Thai and Pakistani businessmen during the visit.

In September, the government will host the first free trade negotiations with Pakistan and Turkey. The government intends to conclude such agreements with Turkey and Pakistan in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Gen Chatchai earlier this month led a team of Thai entrepreneurs to South Africa to explore business opportunities. The minister also convened a meeting with Thai commercial attaches in African countries to discuss trade plans for different markets.
