A government spokesman has assured that the royal rainmaking process will help increase the amount of water supply until the arrival of the rainy season.

Spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office Maj. Gen. Sansern Kaewkumnerd said that, from the latest operation by the fast-moving royal rainmaking unit, which took place from February 15 until before the Songkran holiday, rainfall had been recorded in 76.9% of the total number of flights made.

Accordingly, around 51.55 million cubic meters of water had flown into related reservoirs, although the operation suffered some difficulty due to humidity and high temperatures, he said.

Maj. Gen. Sansern stated that Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has, nevertheless, offered his appreciation to all officers for their hard work to help ease the drought problem in the country.

He went on to say that it is estimated that water reserves in all four major national dams, including Bhumibol Dam, Sirikit Dam, Pasak Chonlasit Dam and Kwae Noi Bumrung Dan Dam, will total 1.8 billion cubic meters by July.

The government spokesman said that while the expected amount of water is higher than estimated, the public can help conserve water supply to last the entire summer season.
