BANGKOK, 7 November 2013 Government chief whip Amnuay Khlangpha announced on Wednesday the government whip is pulling a total of 6 bills in relation to amnesty and reconciliation from the House agenda.

5 reconciliation bills proposed by General Sonthi Bunyaratklin, Niyom Worapanya, Samat Kaewmichai, Phiraphan Phalusuk and Nutthawut Saikuea, and the amnesty bill currently in the limelight make up the 6 bills to be removed from the agenda of the House of Representatives.

Phumtham Wetchayachai, secretary-general of the Phuea Thai Party, on Wednesday affirmed that the Phuea Thai Party’s members of parliament will not revisit the amnesty bill in the future if the Senate votes not to pass it into law. He added that in such an event, he would also ask party members to speedily remove from the House agenda of the other bills concerning amnesty.

Opposition whip chief Churin Laksanawisit said on Wednesday the government’s decision to remove the amnesty bill from the House agenda was not an assurance that it would not try to re-submit similar laws.
