Govt announces second phase of Clean City, Happy People project

BANGKOK, 4 Dec 2014 – The government has announced the second phase of the “Clean City, Happy People” project, the Prime Minister today during his speech to the public on the Thai Environment Day.

According to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, the government has made waste management a national agenda, since systematic garbage disposal, quality of life development and solution to environmental problems are its main concerns.

PM. Prayut disclosed that the new policy would focus on trash and toxic waste management. According to him, the general public would be urged to take part in the effort, with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment being in charge of the roadmap.

On the occasion of the December 4th Thai Environment Day, General Prayut took the opportunity to announce the second phase of the “Clean City, Happy People” project. The first phase, which kicked off November 4, is due to end today.

Today’s activities include the exhibitions showcasing the achievements of HM the King and those of the Clean City, Happy People project, a special session on waste management in four different regions, a seminar on sustainable waste management, and a mini-concert.
