Bangkok – The government is scheduled to meet with civil groups in Chiang Mai province on May 6 to address the controversy surrounding a housing project for judges in Doi Suthep.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Wissanu Krea-ngam, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Suwaphan Tanyuvardhana has been tasked with resolving the issue. Suwaphan will be put in contact with local agencies to obtain information that will be forwarded to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha for a decision. So far, the opposition movement has shown no sign of unrest or other political motives.
Suwaphan revealed that he will travel to Chiang Mai this coming Sunday to meet with the 17 civil groups who oppose the judges’ housing project. He said he will be accompanied by the Inspector-General of the Prime Minister’s Office and will work to reach a timely conclusion according to the Prime Minister’s wishes.
