Govt set to hold celebrations for HM the King’s birthday throughout Dec

BANGKOK, 28 November 2013 The government has announced its readiness to organize celebrative activities for His Majesty the King’s 86th birthday anniversary throughout the month of December while inviting the Thai people to offer their good wishes to His Majesty. 

After chairing a meeting with the organizing committee for His Majesty the King’s birthday celebrations, Prime Minister and Defense Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said this year the government will hold an exhibition entitled “The King Who Is More Than a King” in honor of His Majesty during December 1-10 at Siam Paragon Shopping Center in Bangkok. Therefore, she extended her invitation to all Thai citizens to visit the exhibition and also sign the well-wishing book dedicated to the revered monarch.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for the Prime Minister’s Office Thongthong Chandrangsu noted that this year’s celebrations will be special in that His Majesty the King will appear to greet well-wishers on his birthday at the Klai Kangwon Palace in Prachuap Khiri Khan, the first time he does so outside Bangkok.

Mr Thongthong said preparations are being made to accommodate the crowds of Thai citizens expected to come to greet His Majesty during his commute on Phetkasem Road on the auspicious day. The grand rehearsal for the royal ceremony is scheduled for December 3.

Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary encouraged the people nationwide to partake in the candle-lighting ceremony to be held at their respective provincial halls at 19.29 hrs on December 5.

On December 21, the Ministry of Defense will also host a display of fireworks in Hua Hin district, Prachuap Khiri Khan, in commemoration of His Majesty the King’s birthday.
