NARATHIWAT, May 22 – A grocery shop owner in Narathiwat’s Su-ngai Padi district was shot dead this morning by two presumed insurgents pretending to be customers.
Police said the body of 46-year-old grocery shop owner Wirat Jaengwirotekul, who was also a city protection volunteer, was found at a cashier’s desk in his shop.
Police also found three spent bullet cases at the scene and they were kept as evidence.
According to an initial investigation, two presumed insurgents on a motorcycle arrived at his shop in the morning and pretended to shop for groceries.
The assailants shot Mr Wirat three times before leaving the shop.
