BANGKOK,(NNT) – The Government Savings Bank (GSB) has received more than 20,000 loan requests since a loan program for low income-earners was launched on March 1st.
According to GBS Director Chatchai Payuhanaveechai, the program provides a maximum loan of 50,000 baht to low-income earners with urgent needs. Since the inception of the program, at least 20,000 people have submitted loan application forms to the GBS.
Names of eligible applicants will be announced within two weeks.
5 billion baht was allocated for the loan program, he said, adding that it is still uncertain whether the cabinet will approve more budget.
