BANGKOK, 9 May 2014 – Hailstorms damaged 250 houses in the northeastern province of Kalasin Thursday night. The provincial disaster prevention and mitigation advised people to take shelter and turn off their mobile phones when a storm hit.
Hot weather, gusts and heavy rains were reported on the night of 8 May in many areas near the Phu Phan mountain range. In Nong Kung Si district, hail damaged 250 houses in Tambon Sao Lao and Tambon Nong Bua. The severe weather last night also damaged 203 houses in Sahat Khan district.
The provincial disaster prevention and mitigation office reported that over 450 households in the province were affected by last night’s severe weather. It warned of more thunderstorms and hailstorms during this period especially in foothill areas.
