SONGKHLA, Sept 16 – Hotel rooms are fully booked in this province’s Hat Yai district Sep 30-Oct 2, during the upcoming vegetarian festival, according to Tourism Business Federation of Songkhla president Somchart Pimtanapoonporn.
Over 80 per cent of the bookings were made by Malaysian and Singaporean tourists, he said.
Mr Somchart added he believed the festival will be as vibrant as in previous years, while the amount of cash in circulation is expected to be at least Bt50 million.
The annual vegetarian festival will be held from Sep 26-Oct 5 nationwide.
In Hat Yai, the event is held at Supasarn Rangsan Park to boost tourism and the economy in the province.
Chinese gods and goddesses from local shrines and nearby districts are being invited to be situated at the event for worship. Around 100 special vegetarian food shops are also scheduled to participate in this annual Hat Yai festival.
