Health Ministry pledges help to all injuries

BANGKOK, 19 August 2015 – The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has pledged to take best care of all people injured in the recent bomb attack at Ratchaprasong Intersection.

According to Public Health Minister Ratchata Ratchatanawin, the medical expenses of all 125 injuries who are being treated at 21 nearby hospitals will be the responsibility of the MOPH. The number of deaths stands at 20.

The Department of Mental Health is preparing to arrange for psychiatrists to treat the injured. Director-general Chetsada Chokdamrongsuk has warned the public to use discretion when sharing information or video clips concerning the recent blast to avoid violating the rights of those affected.

The Thai Red Cross Society said blood reserves were ample for all hospitals treating the blast victims. Deputy Interior Minister Suthi Makboon has visited the injured to offer them moral support on behalf of the Prime Minister.
