BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in various parts of the country, with some areas expected to experience severe downpours. Regions most affected include the Northeast, the East, and the Southern West Coast, where residents are advised to be cautious of flash floods and sudden water runoff, especially in mountainous areas and lowlands near waterways.

In Bangkok and surrounding provinces, thunderstorms are expected to cover 60% of the area. A monsoon trough stretches across the lower North and upper Northeast, merging into a low-pressure area over the central coast of Vietnam. The southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand is strengthening, leading to more widespread rainfall.

Weather by Region:

Northern Region: Thunderstorms are expected in 60% of the area, with heavy rain in some parts, especially in Nan, Uttaradit, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces. Temperatures range from 23°C to 35°C.

Northeastern Region: Thunderstorms covering 70% of the area, with heavy to very heavy rainfall in provinces such as Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, and Nakhon Phanom. Temperatures range from 22°C to 34°C.

Central Region: Thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with heavy rain expected in Nakhon Sawan, Lopburi, Saraburi, and Ayutthaya provinces. Temperatures range from 23°C to 35°C.

Eastern Region: Thunderstorms expected in 70% of the area, with very heavy rain forecast for Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. The sea will experience waves of 2-3 meters, rising to over 3 meters during thunderstorms. Temperatures range from 23°C to 34°C.

Southern Region (East Coast): Thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with heavy rain in Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Songkhla. Temperatures range from 23°C to 35°C, with waves around 2 meters high, increasing in stormy areas.

Southern Region (West Coast): Thunderstorms in 80% of the area, with very heavy rain expected in Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. Waves are expected to be 2-3 meters high, rising to over 3 meters during thunderstorms. Temperatures range from 23°C to 31°C.



Bangkok and Surrounding Areas: Thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with heavy rain in some parts. Temperatures range from 25°C to 35°C, with southwest winds at 10-25 km/h.

Maritime Warnings: The Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will experience waves between 2 and 3 meters, and more than 3 meters in stormy areas. Small boats are advised to remain ashore during this period.
