BANGKOK, Thailand – The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain in the Central, Eastern, and Eastern Southern regions of Thailand. In Bangkok and surrounding areas, thunderstorms are expected to cover 70% of the area, with heavy rain in certain parts.
The 24-hour weather forecast predicts thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across the Central, Eastern, and Eastern Southern regions. Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of potential dangers from heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may lead to flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in low-lying areas, near waterways, and hillside zones. People are also encouraged to take care of their health due to changing weather conditions.
The weather conditions are being influenced by a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China, which is covering the upper Northern and upper Northeastern regions of Thailand. This has caused easterly and southeasterly winds to bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand over the lower Northern, lower Northeastern, Central, and Eastern regions. Additionally, a monsoon trough is passing over the upper Gulf of Thailand, Eastern, and upper Southern regions.
In the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, moderate waves are expected, with waves reaching 1-2 meters in the Andaman Sea and around 1 meter in the Gulf of Thailand. In areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 meters. Sailors are advised to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.
For Bangkok and its vicinity, thunderstorms are expected to cover 70% of the area, with heavy rain in some parts. Temperatures will range between 25-26°C at the lowest and 32-34°C at the highest.
