BANGKOK, Thailand – The Meteorological Department has issued a 24-hour weather forecast, warning of heavy rain in parts of northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and southern Thailand, including Bangkok and its surrounding provinces. The public is advised to be cautious of potential hazards from heavy rain, such as flash floods and overflowing rivers, especially in hilly areas and lowlands.
The current weather conditions are influenced by a relatively strong monsoon trough passing through the lower northern, upper central, and northeastern regions, converging with a low-pressure system near Hainan Island, China. Additionally, a moderate southwest monsoon continues to cover the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, though it is weakening.
In affected areas, heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding. The Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will experience weaker winds, with waves reaching about 1 meter, and over 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in stormy regions.
In Bangkok and its surrounding areas, there is a 70% chance of thunderstorms, with some heavy downpours. The temperature is expected to range between 24-26°C at the lowest and 31-33°C at the highest.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions. (TNA)
