Help centers set up and volunteers recruited to assist tourists during rallies

BANGKOK, 11 January 2014 The Tourism and Sports Ministry has launched tourist assistance centers at 3 locations in Bangkok and help desks for tourists at 5 additional locations, to ensure that tourists will get the assistance they may need during the rallies next week. 

According to Tourism and Sports Ministry Permanent Secretary Suwat Sitthilo, who chaired the launch of the “Tourist’s Friend Centers” on Friday, the centers will work with the Tourist Police, hotels and other tourism-related establishments. Volunteers working for the centers will be dispatched to tourism sites and hotels; they can be spotted wearing white shirts with the graphic characters “Tourist’s Friend Center”. The main assistance centers are located at Hua Mark Stadium, Don Mueang Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport. Help desks will be available at Siam, Phayathai, Aekkamai, and Wongwien Yai BTS stations, and at Hua Lamphong train station.

Mr. Suwat further revealed that shuttles to the airport will be provided at 3 locations, in events of emergency. These locations comprise the Eastin Grand Sathon Hotel, Windsor Suite Hotel and Twin Tower Hotel.
