Hi speed internet developed to give more access to Thais

BANGKOK, 8 June 2011 -5 major state enterprises have inked an agreement on the fiber optic development with an aim of providing hi speed internet access to as many as 80% of Thai population. 

Director-General of State Enterprise Policy Office Mr. Somchai Sajjapong said the Memorandum of Understanding had been signed by the following organizations: TOT Plc Ltd, CAT Telecom Plc Ltd, The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and the Provincial electricity Authority.

The MOU will allow them to share the fiber optic technology although more studies will be carried out to determine whether there are any limitations and to divide the service areas among the 5 entities. The hi speed broadband internet is said to reach more Thai families and also at a reasonable price.
