BANGKOK, Thailand – Assistant National Police Chief, Pol. Lt. Gen. Prachuap Wongsuk, on September 23, praised highway police officers from the Khao Din Motorway station for their heroic actions in saving a woman and her 9-year-old daughter who attempted to jump off a bridge on Highway 7 in Lat Krabang, Bangkok. Both mother and daughter were safely rescued.
On September 21, at around 8:30 PM, police were alerted to a situation involving a woman attempting to jump off a bridge with her child. Pol. Capt. Badee Duanpon and Pol. Lt. Col. Nasamon Charoenying, along with other officers from Motorway Police Station 1, responded quickly to the scene. Through negotiation and intervention, they managed to calm the woman, identified as Ms. Kwanruetai, 32, who had been struggling with personal issues.
Ms. Kwanruetai had driven from Suan Luang Park with her daughter, intending to take their lives by crashing the car into the bridge barrier. When the vehicle did not fall as expected, she attempted to jump off the bridge. Her daughter intervened and called for help, leading to the involvement of police officers, rescue teams, and concerned citizens.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Prachuap commended the swift and professional response of the officers, highlighting the exceptional efforts of Pol. Lt. Col. Nasamon, who, despite not being on duty, rushed to assist after hearing the emergency radio call. The incident reflects the officers’ dedication to public safety and their role as true protectors of the community.
Ms. Kwanruetai was transported to Sirindhorn Hospital for psychological evaluation, while her daughter was taken into care by the Bangkok Children’s Welfare Home. Authorities are continuing to provide support for the family, and the National Police Office encourages the public to seek police assistance in emergencies at any time.
