The situation remains critical as unprecedented flooding continues to wreak havoc and disrupt the lives of villagers. Floodwaters have inundated the province’s economic district, and government offices in Phu Phiang district have been significantly affected.

The Nan River’s water level, reaching around 2 meters, has led to the closure of Pattana Pak Neua Bridge, which connects Phu Phiang district with the city center. Motorists are being redirected to an alternative bridge near the provincial hospital.

To manage the crisis, Nan’s provincial governor, Mr. Chainarong Wongyai, has teamed up with the 38th Military District to establish a royally supported canteen to aid those impacted by the floods. Local administrative bodies have also been instructed to provide assistance. A donation center for food and essential items has been set up in front of the provincial hall.

This flooding, the most severe in 20 years, has affected 11 of the province’s 15 districts, with landslides reported in Chaloem Phra Kiat and Bo Kluea districts. Recent updates indicate that conditions are improving in the northern areas of the province, where officials will now focus on restoration efforts. (NNT)
