House of Representatives approves 2013 budget bill

BANGKOK, Aug 18 – The House of Representatives early Saturday morning voted 279-8 to approved on the third reading the proposed Bt2.44 trillion budget bill for the fiscal year 2013.

The House completed the second reading of the 2013 fiscal year budget bill Article 19-23 with only few debates from both government and opposition parties.

After the House agreed to conclude the second reading, the voting for the third reading started at around 1.40am of Saturday.

The House passed the 2013 fiscal year budget bill in the third reading with a vote of 279-8 with 127 MPs abstained.

The House meeting was closed at 1:45am after taken a total of 26 hours to deliberating the bill from Wednesday until early morning on Saturday.

Deputy Prime Minister/Finance Minister Kittiratt Na Ranong, in closing speech, thanked all the MPs and promised to heed their advice for consideration.

On May 23, the House of Representatives voted 274-1 with 177 abstentions to approve the 2013 budget bill in its first reading after three days of deliberation.
