House Speaker orders tightened security measures for new parliament building

Bangkok, 5th August 2019  – As for security measures at airports and bus terminals, the Minister of Transport has instructed the relevant authorities to beef up security measure but there are currently no worrying incidents. Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives has instructed the security authorities to strictly implement all security measure.

Mr Chuan Leekphai, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has confirmed that the new parliament in Kiak Kai is ready for the meeting today. On security measures, he has ordered the authorities to increase the strictness of surveillance. He said he doesn’t know who was responsible for the bombing incidents in Bangkok but asked the public to watch out for suspicious items.

Mr Saksiam Chitchop, Minister of Transport, said today that he instructed the relevant authorities to strengthen security measure at airports and bus terminals but there have been no incidents to date.
