The House Speaker rift between Move Forward Party and Pheu Thai Party is likely to be settled during the June 28 meeting and will not affect the formation of the eight-party coalition, said Noppadol Pattama, Pheu Thai’s party-list MP.
He said he was confident that the negotiation between the two parties on Wednesday would reach a conclusion on the House Speaker post, which will support the formation of the new government.
Pheu Thai’s stance adheres to its statement to support the Move Forward Party’s leader and MFP’s sole prime minister candidate, Pita Limjaroenrat to be the new prime minister. Pheu Thai has no other plan but only plan that sticks to the coalition-formation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by eight parties, sadi Noppadol.
His Majesty the King is scheduled to preside over the official opening of the new parliamentary session on July 3 at 5 p.m.
The ceremony will be attended by the caretaker Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, cabinet members, the president of the Supreme Court, presidents of independent organisations, MPs, senators and diplomatic corps. The House of Representatives will meet on July 4 to choose the House Speaker and deputies. (TNA)
