BANGKOK, 5 July 2012 – Spokesman of the House Speaker Wattana Sengphairoh has expressed confidence that the Constitution Court will judge the charter amendment case with fairness and shrugged off the plaintiff’s use of a voice clip allegedly containing political remarks of the House Speaker as evidence.
The first hearing of the case on revision of Section 291 of the Constitution took place on Thursday at the Constitution Court. The plaintiff, consisting of some Senate members and Opposition MPS, asked the court to rule whether the government’s campaign to amend Section 91 is considered a threat to the constitutional monarchy.
Mr.Wattana said the House Speaker cast doubt on the authenticity of the 15-minute voice clip and he viewed that the House Speaker only expressed his political views in the clip.
