BANGKOK – Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Krom Luang Ratchasarinee Siripatchara Maha Watchara Ratchathida attended an event to mark the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
At 2:17 p.m. on Thursday (Nov 21), Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha proceeded to Vayupak Convention Center at Centra by Centara Government Complex Hotel and Convention Center in Lak Si district, Bangkok, to attend the event to mark the 30th anniversary of the UNCRC. The event is hosted by the Department of Children and Youth, under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the National Council for Child and Youth Development, the Children and Youth Council of Thailand (CYCT), the CRC Coalition Thailand and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The event is held from November 19 and 22, 2019, to raise awareness on children’s right.
The UNCRC is a human rights treaty that sets out the civil, political, economic, social, health and cultural rights of children. The UN General Assembly adopted the Convention and opened it for signature on November 20, 1989.
The theme of this event is “30 years of success and challenges, moving forward firmly”. The event features activities and royal projects and activities on children’s rights and guidelines to improve efforts to protect children’s rights with the participation from all sectors.
The event features exhibitions on efforts to protect children’s rights in Thailand and important figures and organizations in the history of the children’s rights movement. Interdisciplinary sessions are held for experts, advocates and development workers to exchange their knowledge and experience.
