Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn representing His Majesty the King handed degree certificates to the graduates of Chiang Mai University in the 51st Commencement ceremony on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Chiang Mai University Convention Center.
There was a total of 7,270 students from 21 faculties and the Graduate school that took part in the commencement ceremony. There were 611 graduates with first honor degrees, 760 graduates with second honor degrees, 138 graduates were awarded gold medals for good learning through program and 473 graduates were awarded the silver medal. Honorary Degrees were also given to nine experts and four people were appointed Professor Emeritus.
After the commencement ceremony, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn kindly granted audiences to two groups that received donated money and a group that received an image of Buddha. The Operation Commission of Chiang Mai University Saving and Credit Cooperative was granted to dedicate 1,000,000 baht. Executives, Lecturers, and Chiang Mai University Engineering Alumni Association received some of the funds from the charity marathon “Chiang Mai University Marathon 2016” totaling 350,000 Baht. Professor Thipawan Mungmee, Lecturer of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University was granted 35 inch tall Burmese style Buddha image for creation of contemporary Buddha image.
HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn chaired the opening ceremony of the 45 Year Building at the Faculty of Dentistry, Chiang Mai University and also viewed the Honorable Project for cerebration on the occasion of her 5 birth cycles, 2nd April 2015 at Faculty of Dentistry, Chiang Mai University.
