Hua Hin authorities are implementing a monkey sterilization program as part of plans to control the local monkey population and reduce its negative impact on local communities and tourists. Around 300 monkeys are expected to be sterilized by the end of this month.

Deputy Mayor Bussaba Chokesuchart said the municipality has allocated 580,000 baht for the sterilization program, which is being carried out by authorities from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP). The project aims to sterilize monkeys around Hin Lek Fai, the Hua Hin golf course and Khao Takiab, and is expected to continue until September 24.

The initiative was launched in 2017 with the goal of reducing the monkey population and mitigating the negative effects on local inhabitants and tourists. Bussaba said thousands of monkeys have been sterilized since the program began, adding that it is the most effective way to ensure that local residents can live peacefully with the local wildlife.
