BANGKOK, 25 Nov 2014,  The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has revealed its plans to implement information technology within governmental agencies, in a bid to transform the current administrative services into ‘Digital Government’ to support the Digital Economy policies.

Minister of ICT Phonchai Rujiprapa said the implementation would optimize the agencies’ performance, while saving transaction time.

To achieve such a goal, the ministry has set strategies for all government units to follow, beginning with setting up an information technology network that links all units together. The next step involves educating all personnel on the new technology, while developing the infrastructure of the government and private sectors’ IT and communication systems.

Minister Phonchai expects the ICT industry to double in size within 3 years’ time, adding that the current growth rate is 5% a year.
