SA KAEO, Oct 17 — Industry Minister Chakramon Phasukavanich on Friday inspected an industrial facility contracted to eliminate both toxic and non-toxic industrial wastes in Sa Kaeo province bordering Cambodia and ordered concerned officials to strictly enforce the law on eliminating industrial waste throughout Thailand.
Mr Chakramon visited the Professional Waste Technology (1999) Co plant located in Watthana Nakhon district bordering Cambodia, to consider deciding to set up similar plants elsewhere in the country.
Professional Waste Technology (1999) Co is one of three firms providing industrial waste disposal services in Thailand.
It has the capacity to safely eliminate 1,500 tonnes of waste daily.
Expressing his satisfaction with the company’s operations, Mr Chakramon said it was faced with problems eight years ago but its performance has improved after management changes, and the company now provides more service as it uses only 20 per cent of its capacity in discarding the waste.
It is estimated that only about 10,000 plants, or one-third of the total, use services for eliminating toxic industrial waste in Thailand at present.
Mr Chakramon is scheduled to inspect an area for use in constructing a special economic zone in Aranyaprathet district bordering Cambodia this afternoon.
