BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Interior has made reinforcing anti-corruption measures a top priority. This resolution was reached in a recent meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and representatives from the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT).

Minister Anutin reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and its zero-tolerance stance on corruption. He urged all departments, governors, and agency leaders to ensure strict oversight in their operations. Since assuming office, he has emphasized that all Ministry of Interior officials should view corruption as a primary adversary. He called for swift action and thorough investigations whenever irregularities are identified. Local government agencies under the ministry are expected to meet these high standards, guided by provincial governors.

Anutin highlighted that tackling corruption requires collective effort, remarking that it is “impossible to clap with one hand.” He pledged to lead anti-corruption initiatives both as a government executive and a member of parliament. He encouraged Ministry of Interior officials to uphold principles of good governance in all areas of their work to gain public trust. This cooperation, he stated, is crucial to achieving effective and transparent national development, as the Ministry of Interior “serves the people” and must prioritize public interests.

The Minister’s policies specifically target influential figures who attempt to engage in corruption, particularly within local administrations. To uphold standards nationwide, the ministry has directed all provincial governors to place integrity and transparency at the forefront of their operations. (NNT)
