BANGKOK, 23 April 2015 – The Ministry of Interior will immediately hand down disciplinary action against any of its 118 officials currently undergoing graft investigation, said Minister of Interior Anupong Paojinda.

General Anupong said on Wednesday that of the 118 officials, three to four were high-ranking officials. The ministry’s permanent-secretary has been told to quickly investigate the allegations, and to take appropriate disciplinary action. The minister added that the prime minister will be asked to consider using his power under Section 44 in the event that obstacles prevent progress in the probes and in taking action against the wrongdoers.

Gen. Anupong also revealed he has been briefed of the action being taken against the Bonanza Khao Yai’s racetrack due to illegal issuance of land title deeds. He has also assigned interior ministry officials to be prudent when issuing title deeds and to quickly revoke any title deeds that have been issued illegitimately.
