Bangkok – The Interior Ministry has instructed all agencies to prepare disaster prevention measures ahead of the upcoming rainy season.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has set up emergency command units at all administrative areas to monitor the situation in flood-prone communities around the clock.

The DDPM has been working closely with the Meteorological Department, Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), Department of Water Resources, Royal Irrigation Department and the military in mapping out flood prevention and relief measures.

The DDPM has estimated that the rainy season will start in the third week of May.
