The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has called for all agencies to comply with the law requiring the employment of persons with disabilities, aiming to enhance job opportunities for them.

The government views the development of skills and providing opportunities for persons with disabilities to work and demonstrate their potential as a crucial policy. This is particularly crucial as Thailand faces an aging society and a declining birthrate.

This announcement was made by Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, during his visit to the Pathum Thani Vocational Education College for the inauguration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities event.

Minister Varawut cited Section 33 of the Act to promote and develop the quality of life of persons with disabilities. The law mandates that businesses with 100 employees must hire one person with a disability or contribute annually to the fund for the promotion and development of the quality of life of persons with disabilities.

He emphasized that the objective of the law is to encourage every agency to recognize the potential of and provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to work. He pledged to push for both the public and private sectors to increase the employment of disabled persons. (NNT)
