The International Labour Organization (ILO), the European Union (EU), and the United Nations (UN) recently wrapped up a significant event advocating for the rights and opportunities of women migrant workers in ASEAN countries. Titled “Safe Journey with Her: Ending Violence against Women for Safe and Fair Migration,” the event aimed to tackle challenges faced by women migrant workers and champion their rights.

The event utilized an exhibition and panel discussion as a platform to boost public awareness about the unique struggles of women migrant workers in the ASEAN region. The focus extended to the “Safe and Fair” project, operational between 2018 and 2023, which showcased its key messages and milestones through storytelling, interactive exhibitions, and engaging activities.

Operating under the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative, it fosters collaboration among governments, workers, employers, and civil society partners to shield women migrant workers from violence and trafficking. (NNT)
