The International Ramayana Festival, celebrating His Majesty King Rama the 10th’s 72nd birthday, has begun on July 12 and will conclude on Monday July 15th. The event takes place at the Thailand Cultural Centre’s Main Auditorium, ICONSIAM, and the Sanam Luang ceremonial ground.
Minister of Culture Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol stated that the festival is a tribute to His Majesty the King’s commitment to preserving and promoting Thailand’s cultural heritage. This event aligns with His Majesty’s efforts to sustain the cultural legacy established by His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother.
The Ministry of Culture, through the Department of Cultural Promotion, organized the festival, inviting eight countries with cultural ties to the Ramayana story to participate.
These countries include India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Each nation will showcase its unique interpretations of the Ramayana through various performances.
The festival is open to the public free of charge. Attendees who reserved seats online must present their QR codes, while those who reserved by phone or Facebook need to show their ID cards at the registration desk on the first floor of the Thailand Cultural Centre. More information is available on the Ministry of Culture’s website and the Department of Cultural Promotion’s Facebook page.
Each of eight countries—India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand—will showcase their unique interpretations of the epic story “Ramayana” through performances. This is an opportunity for both Thais and foreign visitors to experience the Ramayana’s rich narrative in a diverse and creative way.
