BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Finance has reaffirmed its support for the “Vayupak One” mutual fund, which had a net asset value (NAV) of 349.48 billion baht as of September 10th.

Thipadee Watthanakul, Director of the State Enterprise Policy Office, announced that the fund is raising capital through the issuance of Type A investment units, targeting approximately 150 billion baht. This includes an estimated 30 to 50 billion baht from retail investors and 100 to 150 billion baht from institutional investors.

Following a roadshow for investors on September 9th-10th, there was significant interest from both individual and institutional participants. This reflects strong trust in the fund. While the fund does not offer guaranteed returns or capital protection, it includes mechanisms to safeguard investments and ensure yields. The expected minimum return is projected at 3% annually.

The fund will invest in both active and passive securities listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), focusing on companies with solid long-term performance, sustainability, and good corporate governance. This strategy is designed to stimulate the Thai capital market and boost confidence among both local and foreign investors.

The fundraising effort also seeks to increase public participation in the SET through the Type A investment units, which come with return protection mechanisms.

The Ministry of Finance has ensured that all necessary procedures, including return protection measures, were followed and approved by the Cabinet. The offer was also approved by Type B unit holders, which include the Ministry of Finance and public sector investors. These Type B unit holders will benefit from the fund’s actual performance, including returns exceeding 9% per year, with no upper limit.

Type A unit holders, mainly retail investors, are guaranteed a minimum annual return of 3%, with the possibility of earning higher returns, capped at 9% per annum. The fund is expected to begin trading on the SET early next month. (NNT)
