A Jomtien Beach ice cream vendor angry over the incessant barking by his neighbor’s dog allegedly stabbed and killed its owner.
Police Monday arrested Nattawut Kongpet, 27, on Naklua and Sukhumvit roads after a cross-town baht bus pursuit. Nattawut reportedly confessed he stabbed Vichai Varidam, a fellow ice cream seller, after the dead man punched him during a dispute over Vichai’s dog.
Nattawut insisted he didn’t mean to kill his neighbor, only injure him because the dog’s barking was preventing him from sleeping and Vichai wouldn’t cooperate in keeping the animal quiet.
Nattawut Kongpet is detained by police following his arrest on Naklua and Sukhumvit roads.
Police found Vichai’s body only 20 minutes after the attack and easily identified the suspect after he was spotted by motorcycle taxi drivers getting on a Huay Yai-bound baht bus with a blood-drenched shirt. Nattawut later changed shirts and boarded a second taxi to Naklua.
Investigators managed to seize both the bloody shirt and the knife.
Vichai Varidam died from multiple stab wounds sustained during the attack.
