The Ministry of Justice recently held its second meeting to address the ongoing investigation into Stark Corporation Public Company Limited (STARK), focusing on allegations of misconduct within the company. The meeting, led by Pongthep Thepkanjana, brought together experts, representatives from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and leaders from the Thai Investors Association and the Thai Capital Market Association. Discussions centered on enhancing protections against stock market malpractices such as misinformation and data concealment.

To tackle these issues, the SEC plans to update existing legislation to introduce stricter preventive measures. The group is considering the use of cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) to oversee the activities of over 800 listed companies, seeking to maintain vigilance and regulatory compliance.

Additionally, the working group stressed the need for new educational programs and regulatory reforms to safeguard investors and deter fraud. They also looked into improving enforcement strategies to better identify and address fundamental problems within the market, ensuring that those responsible for legal violations face firm consequences.

The session also reviewed proposals to increase support for victims of stock market fraud, particularly those trading in common stocks, recommending the government offer more substantial aid to those affected. (NNT)
