Nonthaburi – A recent auction held at the “Nonthaburi: The King of Durian” expo sold a Kan Yao durian for a record 800,000 baht while the top nine durians fetched a combined 2.74 million baht.
The record-breaking Kan Yao durian from Suan Rattida was purchased by Chaiwat Jamnongkan, with the proceeds going to charity. The sale topped last year’s record of 310,000 baht.
The next highest auction price was 510,000 baht for a Mon Thong durian from Suan Lung Moo. Meanwhile, Suan Pa Toi Lung Moo produced two Mon Thong durians that sold for 270,000 and 180,000 baht, as well as a Sao Noi durian that fetched 210,000 baht. Suan Apiranya auctioned off two Mon Thongs for 180,000 and 160,000 baht. Suan Nitra fetched 250,000 baht for its Mon Thong, while Suan Natticha’s Kan Yao was sold for 200,000 baht.
The King of Durian expo is held to promote excellence in durian farming, a historically significant trade of Nonthaburi province.
