KANCHANABURI — Kanchanaburi Governor Sak Somboonto has announced that Kanchanaburi will present the River Kwai Bridge and Red Cross Fair 2015 from November 28 – December 7, 2015, at the River Kwai Bridge, Tha Makham subdistrict, Muang Kanchanaburi district, Kanchanaburi province.
The event will honor His Majesty the King whose birthday anniversary occurs in early December. It also aims to promote tourism in Kanchanaburi, commemorate the importance of major events during the Pacific War when the Death Railway and Bridge over the River Kwai were constructed, later becoming sites of historical significance.
In addition, the event will celebrate the 70th Thai Peace Day reflecting the identity of Kanchanaburi, the city of peace. There will be a sound and light performance portraying the atmosphere which existed during the Second World War.
The event also features the Kanchanaburi Red Cross Fair and the Foundation of Arts and Crafts’ products by Surasi Camp’s Housewives’ Association, government agencies’ products, folk performances, local products, a mini motor show, a Thai boxing tournament, an amusement park zone and various forms of entertainment.
