SAMUT SAKHON,(NNT) – The Royal Irrigation Department has prepared to increase the capacity of the Khlong Mahachai “Kaem Ling” water retention area project in accordance with the national strategy to develop an irrigation network in the western part of the Chao Phraya river.
Deputy Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department Somkiat Prachamwong on Monday traveled to the water retention area in Samut Sakhon to follow up on the project to manage the irrigation system of the western part of the Chao Phraya river. The department plans to dredge the canal to increase its water storage capacity and improve a levee at the canal for 42 kilometers.
A water pumping station at the Khlong Samae Dam canal will be constructed to make water flow from the water retention area to the sea faster.
The deputy director-general said the dredging of the water retention area would create a balance for the Chao Phraya river basin in the rainy and dry seasons.
