TRAT, 20 March 2011 (NNT)-President of Trat Tourism Association Ms. Charuwan Chintakanond has revealed that tourism on Chang Island remains popular among holiday makers with the number of teenagers and families visiting the tourist attraction higher than ever.
According to Ms. Charuwan, Chang Island or Ko Chang has seen the number of tourists increase by 70% from March to April this year compared to the same period last year. 5,000 room reservations have been made ahead of the summer season while almost all of them are booked during Songkran Festival.
The number of students visiting Ko Chang is also on the rise as the school year has recently ended while the island has recorded the higher number of families making their trips during the weekend. Tourists are advised to book a room in advance as many people, including Thai and foreigners are expected to flock to Ko Chang in summer.
Ms. Charuwan added later that there would be enough available rooms on the mainland of Trat province should all hotels were fully booked on Ko Chang. She encouraged tourists to also explore the traditional lifestyle of Trat residents.
