The second phase of public hearings for the construction of a sea bridge linking the mainland to Koh Samui has been scheduled to commence in Surat Thaini province on July 15, following the designation of the bridge’s endpoints in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Taling Ngam subdistrict on Koh Samui.

The proposed toll bridge, including a 25-kilometer stretch over the Gulf of Thailand, is part of a 37-kilometer infrastructure project to enhance links between Don Sak in Surat Thani and Khanom. The route is expected to improve accessibility to the renowned island resort.

Managed by the Expressway Authority of Thailand, the project’s development process covers three rounds of public meetings, concluding in October of the following year. Although construction was initially slated for 2028, it has been rescheduled to begin in 2029, with the bridge’s completion targeted for 2033. (NNT)
