The Korean Cultural Center in Bangkok recently hosted a grand graduation ceremony for its K-pop Academy, attracting significant attention from the public. The event, led by Korean Ambassador to Thailand Park Yong-Min, was a celebration of Korean pop culture and its growing influence in the country.

The ceremony marked the end of a series of K-pop Vocal and Dance classes, with students from Silpakorn University and the Human Help Network Foundation in Pattaya showcasing their talents. A standout performance was delivered by “The Stars,” a unique cover dance group composed of individuals with Down syndrome who have shown remarkable improvement since their initial appearance.

The event kicked off with an open K-pop class conducted by Kevin Yoon, a renowned professor, and vocal trainer from Howon University and YG Entertainment. This was followed by a series of performances by students, demonstrating their skills in K-pop vocal and dance routines.

Ambassador Park took the opportunity to highlight the diverse influences that make K-pop a globally celebrated genre. He also treated the audience to a rendition of a popular K-pop song, illustrating the cultural bridge between South Korea and Thailand.

Cho Jae-il, Director of the Korean Cultural Center, spoke about the importance of K-pop as a medium for global youth communication and understanding. He emphasized the Center’s commitment to making K-pop accessible and enjoyable for Thai youth, irrespective of language or physical barriers, reflecting the inclusive nature of this cultural phenomenon.
