KRABI, Thailand – The acting Director of Krabi International Airport has addressed the incident involving a woman lying on a baggage conveyor belt and filming herself for an Instagram post. While her actions did not result in any damage to government property and thus no legal action will be taken, the behavior is deemed inappropriate.

The video, which was widely shared on social media, shows a woman lying on the baggage conveyor belt at the airport. Accompanied by music and a caption asking, “Can I lie down like this?? Saw it on IG, I’m Thai,” the post sparked a wave of criticism. Many commenters highlighted the potential danger of such behavior.

Chanyut Srikaew, the acting director of Krabi International Airport, confirmed that they are aware of the incident from social media and are currently investigating when it occurred. While no legal violation took place since no property was damaged, the behavior is considered improper and the equipment was used incorrectly.

The airport plans to install clearer signs and increase staff oversight, in collaboration with various airlines, to prevent similar incidents in the future. Chanyut added that while the baggage conveyor belt is designed to support heavy loads with no gaps, posing little risk of injury, it is meant for luggage only. Passengers are warned not to sit or lie on the conveyor as there is a risk of injury, especially if they hit a curved section or fall off.

He urged all airport users to avoid such behavior to ensure safety.

While no legal violation took place since no property was damaged, the behavior is considered improper and the equipment was used incorrectly, said Chanyut.
