In a move to bolster consumer confidence during the festive season, Prime Minister’s Office Minister Puangpet Chunlaiad has conducted inspections at Bangkok’s department stores to examine the labeling of New Year gift baskets. The inspections at Tops and Lotus supermarkets in the Ladprao area were focused on ensuring adherence to product labeling regulations.

The effort focused on ensuring the holiday gift baskets, a common choice during the festive season, had labels with accurate and comprehensive information. This step is deemed essential, given the variety of items these baskets usually contain and their popularity as gifts.

Puangpet advised consumers to review product labels carefully for content, quantity, and expiration information. She also addressed the legal consequences for businesses not adhering to labeling standards, which include fines and potential imprisonment.

Consumers facing labeling problems or other compliance issues with gift baskets can contact the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) via the OCPB hotline at 1166, the OCPB Connect app, or visit the agency’s official website at www.ocpb.go.th. (NNT)
