Labor Ministry improves skills of auto workers

BANGKOK, 23 November 2014 – The Ministry of Labor is urgently developing skills of automotive workers to be at par with the international standards.

Adviser to the labor minister Noppadol Kannikar said the ministry placed high importance on the development of curricula on labor skills in various fields. In today’s world, all sides, especially the government, private sector and international organizations should work together in increasing the country’s bargaining power, said the adviser.

Director-General of the Department of Skill Development M.L. Puntharik Samiti said the ministry would develop official standards for automotive workers after it set up an institute for them in Samut Prakan province. The ministry was cooperating with the private sector in developing curricula and encouraging entrepreneurs to help train automotive workers, the official added.
