BANGKOK– The Committee on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Environment, part of the Ministry of Labor, disclosed that 17 accidents at work occurred in December 2015. Nine were caused by fire but nobody was killed in those cases.

Four other accidents took place at construction sites where a Myanmar worker and a Thai worker fell from the building and died while a Cambodian worker was killed when construction materials fell down on him. The others were caused by a malfunctioning elevator and road traffic mishap.

The Department of Labor Protection and Welfare has set up a center for the collecting of information pertaining to the causes of accidents at work in order to set guidelines for the preventing of such mishaps.
