LAMPANG, 1 June 2015 – A thousand of cyclists joined a mass cycling around Lampang Province on Monday to launch an environmentally-friendly tourism campaign “Lampang : The City of Bikes” in a landmark step towards the City of Sustainable Happiness.
All cyclists rode along a 16-km route passing several historical sites and tourist attractions. The ride was aimed at promoting energy saving awareness and environmental conservation.
The campaign was brought to reality by integrated efforts of eight government and private agencies in Lampang and nearby provinces under the concept “No Time Can Harm Lampang”.
It was part of the provincial strategic plan to improve the quality of life of Lampang people and cultivate the value of integrity and unity, in line with a vision positioning the province as the City of Sustainable Happiness.
For the next phase, Lampang has plans to elongate bike lanes and install direction and traffic signs for safety of cyclists, believing that it could draw more tourists to the province, resulting in more income to local communities.
