Lao NA chief pays courtesy call on Gen Prayut

Bangkok – President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR, Pany Yathotou has met with Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House in Bangkok.

Receiving the head of the Lao NA on Friday, Gen Prayut extolled the strong diplomatic relations between the two nations, saying President Pany’s official visit to the kingdom would bolster mutual cooperation on various fronts including trade, investment, tourism and labor.

Both parties agreed to create tourism connectivity to boost their economies in the long run.

President Pany then asked the Thai government to look after Lao workers in Thailand.

In reply, Gen Prayut said his government attaches great significance to human labor regardless of their nationality, assuring his guest that all alien workers are treated with respect and will receive proper welfare benefits.

The two leaders also touched on the upcoming the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit which will take place in Bangkok this month and the 3rd Thai-Lao Ministers’ Meeting to be held in the Lao PDR later this year.
